Born in 1951 in Missouri, Brad Daugherty is a professional poker player and is best known for winning the WSOP Main Event in 1991. As of 2009, his total live tournament winnings exceed $1,700,000.
Daugherty began playing poker in 1969 while on a high school trip. After high school he worked in the construction industry, but moved to Reno in 1978 after hearing about the large payouts for winning poker tournaments. He quickly won his first tournament a year later.
When Daugherty won the WSOP Main Event in 1991, he became the first player to win a prize of more than $1,000,000. He had another impressive performance in the main event in 1993 when he finished in 9th place. For his career, he has 1 bracelet, 19 WSOP cashes, and total WSOP earnings of $1,158,574.
Daugherty has co-authored a few tournament books with Tom McEvoy and still plays in some of the bigger tournaments today.
