Clonie Gowen is considered on e of the rising female players. She started playing poker while living in Dallas and driving to Shrevesport on weekends and making a few hundred dollars each week. She palced 10th on the World Poker Tour tournament in Costa Rica and then ended up winning the WPT LAdies Night Invitational by beating more experiencede players like Annie Duke and Jennifer Harman. Formerly a travel agent, she now solely relies on her poker income. She takes breaks when she is doing bad and appraoches her professioanl cautiously (her single biggest tournament win is $25,000) - she has made a profit each of the 9 years she has played (her longest losing streak lasted a month). She is also frequently backed when she plays a tournament. She has recently sign up with FullTilt to promote that site. She also has a 11-year old daughter abd 2-year old son so she has to work playing poker around her family life.

I saw her on WPT Ladies Night, and it was terrible for her opponents. No matter what she had, whether it was Jx offsuit, or anything else, she would call a raise, then either she would hit a full house, flush or straight. Every hand was won this way, she got really lucky. I wanna see her play when she doesnt hit a thing. Then we can see if she has skill.

I met her in person as well. Attractive but far from smoking hot. As a poker player she has her moments but is not that good. When FullTilt pays your freight it is easy to be assumed to be one of the top women players.

I went to Shreveport with Clonie many times, she was an all business player in the mid 90s. I am glad to she succeeded playing poker. It was and is her passion, and for someone to succeed at thier favorite career goal is something many never get to realize. Best wishes Clonie.

Last time I checked being sexist was believing one sex was superior to the other. The fools posting here are not sexist, they are horny. I met her a few weeks ago at Turning Stone.... she is very skinny with monster yabos. She didn't play well when I saw her but she was cordial when I met her. The poker room was a zoo and I think she was a bit over-whelmed. However, if she's a "big time" poker player she should be used to it.
