Isabelle Mercier is one of the more popular up-and-coming female poker players. She is known for her aggressive style of play and earned the nickname "No Mercy," which was given to her by Mike Sexton.
Born in Quebec, Isabelle Mercier attended the University of Montreal to pursue a long-desired law degree. While going to school, she took a job as a blackjack dealer at the Casino of Montreal. After working for a year as an attorney in Montreal, she moved to Paris to earn an advanced degree.
While in Paris, she took a job as a poker dealer at the Aviation Club de France, where she worked up to poker room manager, then became tournament director. After a few years of working at the tables, she decided to become a professional poker player.
She spent time seeking out lucrative games and quickly established herself as a talented player. In 2004, she won the WPT's Ladies Night II special, which allowed her entry into the WPT World Championship where she finished in 28th place, taking home $56,615.
In 2005, she won a No-Limit Hold'em tournament at the European Poker Tour (EPT) in Monte Carlo. She has 5 WSOP cashes, he best being a 5th place finish in the 2006 $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em Event for $175,404.
