Born in 1967 in London, Joe Beevers is an English professional poker player and a member of The Hendon Mob.
Beevers' father taught him how to count cards in blackjack at age 10. Beevers then left school at age 16, and became a part of a card-counting team with his father and two others at age 18. The team eventually stopped playing because they were banned from so many casinos in London.
Beevers worked first for NatWest then for Citibank. He attended Middlesex University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Honour's degree in Finance and Accounting at the age of 24.
Beevers began playing poker by entering a small buy-in tournament during one of his blackjack sessions. He went on to regularly play in a poker game in North London where he built his bankroll. By the time he finished university, he was making enough money from playing and teaching poker that he didn't need to work.
Beevers began traveling to tournaments and won his first major event in Amsterdam in 1997. After that, he started regularly making final tables. One of his best finishes was his win in the Irish open in 2003 after finishing third the year before.
Beevers also finished on the TV bubble of the WPT season 3 World Championship, earning $188,710 and cashed in the 2005 WSOP main event.
Beevers ran a private poker game with his friend, Ram Vaswani. It was in this game that they met Ross and Barny Boatman, the other two members of the Hendon Mob.
Beevers and the rest of The Hendon Mob were invited to appear in the new Late Night Poker TV series. Beevers appeared in all 6 series of the show. Beevers made the Final in seasons 1, 4 and 5. The Hendon Mob would tour the world playing in poker tournaments sponsored by PrimaPoker.
Beevers has written articles for the Hendon Mob's website and wrote the introduction to the European edition of Michael Kaplan's book Aces and Kings. As of 2009, he has 15 total WSOP cashes and total live tournament winnings exceeding $2,400,000. He is sponsored by Full Tilt Poker.
