Josh Arieh

Josh Arieh (pronounced "R-E-A") is a professional poker player from Atlanta best known for finishing third behind Greg Raymer and David Williams in the 2004 WSOP Main Event.

Born in 1974 in Rochester, New York, Arieh has been an Atlanta-based tournament pro since 1999. After graduating from high school, he spent one year in college, going to classes during the day and playing poker at night. He then briefly worked a normal job before going pro.

Although most people know him from the 2004 WSOP, he actually won a bracelet and $202,800 in the $3,000 Limit Hold 'Em event at the 1999 WSOP. And the following year, he went heads-up against Johnny Chan to place 2nd in the $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha tournament, earning $89,700.

His hard work paid off in 2004 when he finished in 3rd place in the 2004 WSOP main event and won $2.5 million. During the main event, he got a reputation for being obnoxious for a couple of incidents. First, he criticized Harry Demetriou after a key hand. Then, after being eliminated, he whispered to David Williams, "bust this motherfucker," referring to eventual winner Greg Raymer.

In 2004, Arieh finished 3rd in a WPT Borgata Poker Open for $286,900.

After winning, Arieh bought his wife a BMW, then smartly put away money for their kid's educations. He also decided to start the Atlanta Poker School where you can pay a fee and take classes taught by him.

One of the ways he has improved his game was by talking to his friend Erick Lindgren. Arieh even stayed at Lindgren's Las Vegas home for two months during the World Series.

At the 2005 WSOP, Arieh earned his second bracelet by defeating Chris Ferguson in the $2,000 Pot-Limit Omaha event.

In December of 2009, he finished in 2nd in the WPT Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic for $952,290.

Arieh has 2 WSOP bracelets and 15 WSOP cashes. In 2008, he started playing online at Full Tilt Poker and has greatly reduced his travel schedule in recent years to spend more time with his family.

I'd love to be at this guys table and have him talk shit to me. I'd rip his tongue out of his mouth and beat him over the head with it. How did that fat little prick get in the prop bets you ask? I think those other 3 guys figured Arieh is probably shitty at everything he does, so it would be easy money.
They felt bad for him so they let him win. Arieh is a fag!

I wish his fat azz wud talk tht smack to a player, ever notice,he always belittles the small man,,who let the moron in the prop bet anyway? I can't see his fat butt making any friends,he is such an asshole.

headlessman1964 on October 2, 2007

was just lumping him in the 'zero-class' players,,but agreed

headlessman1964 on January 2, 2007

Headless Arieh is not in a class with those players you mentioned below. Hellmuth may be a loud mouth cry baby but the man can play. Mike the Mouth is certainly an intesting fellow but again he's a pretty solid player until he blows up.

Arieh and Duke can go together neither one can play worth a shit and believe they are the best ever.

Arieh is a piece of shit!

someone needs to tell his wart-faced wife to iron those overshirts he wears to cover up tht fat azz and gut,wrinkle-city,,what a moron that belittles everyone,,he sucked out on one of his bracelets big time,,a motor mouth and puss that is in the same category with duke, helmouth, and mike the mouth,,zero class

Did U See This Fish Call Off 90 Percent Of His Stack With Nothing When Toto Had The Trip Kings? He Runs His Mouth But Got Lucky In One Tourney And Nows Hes Something Special? This Homo Is A Complete Donk And If He Ran His Trap With Me At The Table Id Put His Donkey To Sleep

All I can say is that Arieh is whiny. He whines when somebdoy makes plays on him, ala David Williams in 2004.....but then he makes a lot of hands by playing a lot of combos. So I guess hypocritical, as well, considering he's a pretty loose player.

Still...his whole "how dare you beat me" attitude sucks.

I'd beat the living piss out of this piece of garbage. He's garbage!

bad_dog76 on August 11, 2006

He LOVES so many bad hands

He is not one of my favorite players but he seems to me like he has paid his dues at the poekr table and is the real deal.
