Born and raised in England, Paul Maxfield obtained a university degree in Finance before going on to get his real estate license. He spent the majority of his career in the pharmaceutical business and started a company with his brother while always managing to find some time to spend playing poker.
After achieving some minor cashes in tournaments since the mid-90's, his break out year came in 2004. He won the €5,000 European Hold'em Championships at the Euro Finals of Poker for over $103,761, and then won the £ 1,000 No Limit Hold'em at the Midlands Medley in Walsall for $75,651. He then went to the WSOP and cashed in 3 events and reached 2 final tables.
In 2005, he went to Las Vegas to play in the WPT $25,000 main event and made it to the TV table, finishing in 2nd place to Tuan Le for $1,698,390. He retired after 25 years of working in the pharmaceutical industry and now has career earnings of over $2 million.
