Roulette Tutorial

    INTRODUCTION

Roulette is one of the most popular casino table games in the world. At first glance the layout of the roulette table may appear complicated, but roulette is actually a very easy game to understand and play. You simply have to learn the basic rules of the game and the proper etiquette when you play roulette. Roulette doesn't move at a particularly fast pace - mainly because of the high number of bets being made. Hence, the players you see at a roulette game will be more laid back player than you'll find at a craps table.

    HOW THE GAME IS PLAYED

A bowl-shaped wheel with pockets numbered 0 through 36 is spun. (The American wheel has an additional number - the double-zero). The numbers 1 through 36 are evenly split between red and black, while 0 and 00 are green pockets. A small ivory ball is spun around the outer rim of the wheel in the opposite direction in which the wheel is spun. As the ball slows, it drops into one of the pockets on the wheel. Before the spin, you bet on which pocket the ball will drop into. There are many different types of bets allowed in the game of roulette.

    PLACING A BET

When you want to place a bet, don't be worried if there is already a bet in the spot you want to bet on. Each player is given differnet colored chips to avoid any confusion. Roulette rules give you plenty of time to place your bet. You can place your bet after the roulette wheel has been spun. The time limit for placing bets is when the roulette dealer waves his hand over the table (the dealer will sometimes say 'no more bets' out-loud too). Once the ball has settled, the roulette dealer will call out the winning number and place a marker on that number's spot on the table. The roulette dealer then collects all of the losing bets and pays the winner. After this happens, you will have to wait until the roulette dealer says "place your bets" before betting on the next spin.
