Born in Texas, Shannon Elizabeth is a celebrity poker player and actress. She is best known for her role in the American Pie series. Elizabeth has starred in a couple of poker-related movies. In 2006, she starred in the Burt Reynolds movie Deal, about an ex-gambler who returns to the World Series, and, in 2007, she starred in The Grand, a comedy which featured Jason Alexander, Woody Harrelson, and Doyle Brunson.
In 2002, Elizabeth married her longtime boyfriend, actor and celebrity poker player Joseph Reitman. Reitman had appeared with Elizabeth in American Pie 2, and the two dated for seven years before getting married. The couple filed for divorced June of 2005. It has been rumored that Elizabeth has been linked to poker player Joe Sebok, while Reitman has since begun dating Annie Duke.
Elizabeth learned how to play poker from her family in Texas when she was young. She learned how to play Texas Hold 'Em around 2003 and learn from poker professionals Antonio Esfandiari and Phil Laak after becoming friends with them. She soon became serious about poker and described poker as her "second career".
She has made many poker appearances over the last 5 years or so, appearing on Celebrity Poker Showdown and many celebrity tournaments. In 2005, she won the 1st Annual Nicky Hilton New Year's Eve Poker Tournament at Caesars Palace, where she outlasted 91 other players to claim first place. She almost cashed in the Main Event at the 2005 WSOP and did manage to cash 4 times during the 2006 and 2007 WSOP. In 2007, she advanced to the semi-finals of the NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship, beating 3 WSOP bracelet winners along the way - Jeff Madsen, Barry Greenstein, and Humberto Brenes.
Elizabeth represented Full Tilt Poker as a player during the 2006 WSOP and signed on as a poker marketing representative with Poker Royalty.
