It never seems to be anyone likely. However, I say that it could be Daniel Negreanu. I would have to put Marcel Luske in 2nd.

How about Tom Golabek, the amateur long time poker player, and magician from South Florida.
That's me actually. I don't expect to win, but I'm registered for the main event and expect to go on the adventure of my life.

Dan Harrington. He has made the final table the past two years, and if not for some bad luck, he would have been heads-up against Raymer in 2004.

Action Dan! Seems to be one of the most consistent main event winners in the WSOP. A good choice.

the only man i would put money on is The Professor Howard Lederer
I'd have to go with Gus Hanson. I can see him with the huge stacks bullying everybody around. :D

He's good..., and he's also extremely lucky. I don't think I've ever seen him lose a coin flip. He must have given Satan a bj or something.
He's certainly not a bad choice. It could happen.

With the MASSIVE field of players that will likely be there, I seriously doubt that a pro will win the main event. If so, even he or she would have to make some serious outdraws at some point in the game.

Yeah that's true also. There's gonna be alot more contenders this year. I wouldn't even be surprised if it was another Chris MoneyMaker to take it down. We'll see though.

i think it will come down to mostly unknowns because the massive turnout is expected to be between 5000-6000 people. but my darkhorse pro to maybe make a run is ted forrest.

Dan Harrington or Phil Hellmuth.
A pro is not likely to win. However, if a pro will win, it'll be Phil Ivey. He has what, 5 or 6 WPT final tables, two of which where in the huge fields of today. he is heating up as evidenced by his 5000 Pot Limit Omaha win, so I think he has to be the favorite.

hellmuth and harrington r out. i think that a pro will win this. it has so far been the pros year. i predict phil ivey, layne flack, maybe Matusow, maybe even Dutch Boyd. or raymer might repeat. if he does that would teach all those skeptics. i use to be a skeptic of raymer and moneymaker. i still think moneymaker is a fluke but raymer made a british poker open final table recently and also made side WSOP event final table this year.
