ms_pockets, you can just call me "Mae", it's all right. :-) In one e-mail Phil wrote me, he called me "M", so even that will work. (You know... I haven't heard from him since Dec. 29, and his Dad never wrote me after his original e-mail back in November. Maybe they think I'm a woman after Phil for sex & money. Oh well...)

I have lived in my own fantasy world for the past year! lol I actually thought I could meet Phil at some point, and I came THIS close... I went to Las Vegas and visited the Palms, and I met Robert Thompson, who as many people know is the tournament director you see on Celebrity Poker Showdown. I talked to him for all of two minutes, and I met Sandi Wilson (from a previous post last year on this message board), who has become a very dear friend and second mom. But I haven't heard from Phil since December, so I wonder what's up with him. I think he's getting too busy to bother with "the little people" anymore... :-(

Of course, he's got a virtually non-stop schedule, so I suppose it's completely understandable! lol

Ok i know this is going to sound weird but i was watching the new Episode of Celebrity PokerShowdown... and when it was all over phil keeps whispering in the winners ear "good job, good job, good job"... It was the one with Johnny Fairplay, Andrew Firestone and Amerosa. anyone else see that? this guy just seemed like he was possessed by some kind of demon, it was really weird.

Jared, are you talking about Johnny Fairplay? This guy was far worse than Dennis Rodman, and I hope C.P.S. NEVER asks him back. This has to be the worst episode I've ever watched. Johnny was obnoxious, rude, and downright hateful. He kept talking about how the others were the worst poker players he's ever watched, yet I believe he was the FIRST ONE in the Loser's Lounge. I wish Dave or Phil or Bravo had the cajones to tell this man what to go do with himself. I'd rather watch Dennis Rodman anyday than this guy. (BTW, everyone, Andrew Firestone from "The Bachelor" won this particular game.)

Is Phil gay? He seems very chummy with that Dave guy on Celebrity Poker Showdown and with other males once in awhile - i.e., with Andrew Firestone after he won. (It would be very sad if he is gay...) BTW - that a**hole Johnny Nobody Fairplay was second in the loser lounge; that b*tch from the real world was first. Even though the show has some questionable "celebrities" on it from time to time, I think they've gone to a new low with the reality "stars"...their 15 minutes were up long ago - why keep putting the rest of us through the pain???

no i was talking about phil gordon after the game he kept whispering in Andrew Firestone's ear, "good job, good job"... lol it just seemed like phil gordon is possessed by some sort of demon.and about johnny fairplay, yea he was annoying as hell but it was kinda cool. i mean that shit works, he could get alot of players out there on tilt... if he could just stay off tilt for 2 hands it could work for him.

YOu Guys ALl Question Phils Skill WIth The Cards. Lets See. Hes One Over Twelve Big Poker Tournys. he knocked out chris moneymaker and (forgot who else) out in the same hand for a win. Busted Phil hellmuth and Jen Harman to win another big tourny. Id say Phils more then just a good poker player. o yea made it to the final tabel of the main event as well. keep it up phil.

Well, I have no reason to doubt Phil's intellect. If his IQ is up in the 140/150+ range (genius) then I have little doubt that his ability to win tournaments is a question of skill rather than "volume" of playing (facilitated by his wealth). Being a great poker player can come through learning and dedication - or simply being a lot smarter than others at the table. I have an IQ well above the range I just provided, and while I have only played occasionally with friends, I tend to win (and I similarly always win at casino tables). I wouldn't expect to win at tournaments (necessarily)... I am simply not experienced enough yet. Besides, many of the top players (I suspect) have very high IQs. Heck, James Woods, recognized for having an IQ above 160 (I believe estimated based on SAT scores) went from not knowing the game, to being a very, very capable player at major tournies. Any of you that doubt Phil (assuming his credentials of working on A.I. projects and starting his own company are accurate) are really missing the point... and just because you can't "see" his strategy (or why he is effective), doesn't mean that it doesn't exist. In fact, the more opaque it is to all of you, the more opaque it probably is to his competition - certainly a good thing in the long-run.

While waiting in line for one of Phils seminars earlier this week I actually had the pleasure of playing with him. There were about eight of us out there on the sidewalk, several hours before the scheduled event. Phil went and bought some chips and cards, sat down in the heat of the afternoon and played a mini tourny with us. The prizes were m+ms and an icecream. I didnt win that one, but i gained a wealth of knowledge through the seminar and the next evening i placed 2nd in a tournament, the best yet for me. It's only going to get better. your a cool guy phil- thanks, stefan abitbol. P.S. I'll never limp in with pocket queens again!

Unhappy

ms_pockets... I'm pleasantly surprised to find that someone picked up on those comments from others. Who cares what he does in the privacy of his home? People really ARE that shallow. It's sad.

Is this what it has come to? We have to now to go through all this moe foe to post? Well thanks alot people, LOL. I guess thats one way to stop stupid people. LOL. Anyways I just saw the celeb show down tourny and I must say Phil looked very handsome...but I kept getting distracted by the awful plays by the celebs. Is being good looking and famous an excuse for being an idot? I am only joking...I guess all the celling lights beaming down must be a distraction. LOL

I might put back in a box to let people post unregistered but it will be moderated so they won't show up on the page until I approve them.

I'm very liberal about stuff that is allowed to get posted. When things get really bad I delete them but I didn't have time to read all the comments and couldn't keep up. Now I have it set up so that readers can report a post to me. But I still have to tweak my code a bit to make it easier.
As far as the # of posts going down, most people just don't want to bother signing up. I'm going to try to set it up in the next few days so that the unregistered people can post again - but I will need to approve the psots before they show up on the page.

You are clueless love. I am merely poking fun at you. Don't be so serious. I totally understand where you are coming from, but remember if people can't say what or how they truly feel (on here or anywhere else); they will most likely go somewhere else.

Hey, I'd just like to know how we are supposed to view previous postings that people have left. But yes, thanks, Admin, for cleaning up these boards.

I just wanted to thank Phil for signing my copy of his latest "Little Green Book." The message was nice, too, you didn't have to write as much as you did. Thanks a bunch! And thanks, Sandi, for getting him to sign the book for me!
