Cyndy Violette is a professional poker player who won a World Series of Poker bracelet in 2004.
Born in 1959 in Queens, NY, Violette's family moved from Queens to Las Vegas when she was 12-years old. She learned to play cards when she was 12 years old at the kitchen table with her uncle.
She first played casino poker in the early 1980's, in a low-limit game, while she was on leave from her job while being pregnant and visited the Silver Slipper Casino where her sister was dealing cards.
After spending some time dealing blackjack and poker in Las Vegas, she developed a good instinct or the game of poker. She became a professional poker player in 1984, after winning her first tournament in Lake Tahoe. Next year, she won $74,000 in a Golden Nugget tournament, which was the highest amount ever won by a woman at that time.
After meeting her second husband, she took a break from poker for a couple of years to focus on family but came back to the game in 1990 and won $62,000 in a tournament at Caesars Palace while on a trip. At the time she was living in Washington state but but spent a lot of time playing poker in Las Vegas and Los Angeles.
In 1993, she got divorced and relocated to Atlantic City after she heard they were legalizing poker there. She played the tournament circuit and was a regular participant in the WSOP. In 2004, she won a bracelet and $135,900 in the $2000 7-card stud hi-lo split event. She almost won 2 bracelets, but took a bad beat by Erik Seidel. A few months later, she was invited to play in the WPT Ladies Night II TV event, where she placed fifth.
At the 2005 WSOP she won $295,970 for finishing 2nd in the $2,000 a No-Limit Hold'Em event. She made three final tables, had 5 total cashes and showed her broad poker talents by cashing in 4 different types of events. At the 2006 WSOP she won $102,648 for finishing 3rd in the $5,000 Seven Card Stud event.
Cyndy is well known for being one of the nicest players in poker. She is also one of the most attractive, which led to her poker skills being overlooked. She is one of the top female money winners of all time and was winning poker tournaments and WSOP bracelets before it became cool to do so. She used to be only a cash game player, but how makes an effort to play in the major tournaments.
Cyndy lives a very healthy life - both mentally and physically. She practices positive thinking and visualization to maintain her mental health, and yoga and healthy eating for her physical health.
As of 2008, she has 28 WSOP cashes and total live tournament winnings exceeding $1,200,000. Violette is a team member of the Full Tilt Poker.
