Very bad player. This is coming from someone who has played against him in many tournaments. E and every other pro love to see him at the table.

Been playing the 10-20 blinds no limit game with Laak at the Bellagio for about 10 nights straight, nice guy, a little crazy, nothing special about his game, he plays to grind out profit nightly and I've found it quite easy to bluff him

laak is interesting as all hell.

There are too many Phils. Phil Hellmuth, Phil Gordon, Phil Ivey, and Phil Laak....One of them never shuts up (Laak). One never stops complaining (Hellmuth), One never speaks or smiles (Ivey). One is so good he gets to analyze celebrity poker for a living (Gordon).

Laak is cool, I love watching him play. My second favorite player. The shadow boxing is great.

He's an idiot, and so were the announcers for endorseing the assinine antics at that tournament!And you could see that the sharking was bothering some of the players. The WPT will suffer if they encourage this type of BS.

The man makes the game fun to watch no one can deny the change that we all have seen in the poker world with it becoming such a big hit and I would like to believe that it has something to do with these kinds of players like phil laak that make the game interesting to watch.

Well I would agree if I was someone playing with him at the table like I dunno if I would be able to take it. I might just snap. But watching him on tv I find it quite amusing maybe thats his stratagy to throw off the other players. Personally I am a big Phil Ivey fan. But phil laak is fun to watch.

I don't get what everyone complains about. His antics really aren't that bad. I've never seen him do anything that is insulting to the other players... He mainly just has fun in a "his own little world" sort of way. I agree that the unabomber nickname isn't very tasteful, but he didn't give it to himself.

The unabomber is the craziest player...i love him!!! The poker game needs more players like him who knows how to have to good time. Laak is my fav player!!!

Unabomber... very inappropriate! Why would you want to look like and be referred as someone who devastated so many lives by murder?And why would the WPT commend this behavior? Hopefully some day they'll be sued for tons of money for acknowledging Laak as the Unabomber by the victims of the Unabomber or maybe by Ted himself.

"phil laak sucks" "phil laak is immature" "unabomber is a offensive nickname" For the first, he does not suck, he is a "semi-professional" poker player, and ok he has REALLY much luck, but thats life. he gambles. His style is fun to watch.. And no, the other people playing on the final wpt-table with him did not got disturbed by his style. They seemed to ejoy it a bit.. (specially in the heads-up) also the dealer did not get nervous or whatever when phil got behind and looked over shoulder.. And about "his" nickname. Chill down, he didnt choose his style to try to look as the mailbomber Unabomber, the other gave him that nickname.. Phil Laak is a good, unpredictable player and it is amusing to watch him. i will not "chill down" lmao sorry j/k,,,i think what laak does at the table is a joke and disrespectfull to the other players at the table...he uses his "crazy"image to his benefit ,which is a good thing...he does make some awful calls and he sucks out soooo much, but some of that has to go to calling the correct pot odds...kind of like gus hansen...if he didnt act like corey feldman on crack, maybe his game would be more respected...but hey hes the one banging jennifer tilly while im here on my pc, so maube he;s the one doing something right<pardon the pun> lol

A good B-list player. Funny and entertaining commentator. I don't think he has what it takes to make it into the highest levels of poker, but I rooot for him.

I just had to post, after all the negative things said about phil laak. He is a great poker player, and yea he gets lecky a lot!! but everyone who calims his antics are "unamusing" youre all full of it, obviously youre attention was captured. and to the one who says he might suffer from a.d.d. youre a fool, his antics dont even mimic that of an attention deficit case, he is always in touch with the game, where as a.d.d. suffers are more apt to "space out". But back on point, Phil Laak is awesome!!!

One more thing, all the people whining about the nickname "the unabomber" who cares?! It's not like hes walking around with a bag of plastique explosive, he wears a hoodie and glasses, if you are oh so offended send a letter to WPT since they are the ones who initially referred to him as such. But I'm betting the ones whining were also objecting to the teletubbies homosexual inference of a purple character. Well in the interest of the conservatives, maybe we should refer to Mr. Laak and Happy sunshine glasses man.

I met Phil Laak in the Commerce Casino this week and personally watched him take many big pots off of some the best no limit players LA has to offer. He was one of the best players without a doubt. He was down to earth and approachable toward me even though I was the stereotypical, busted at the time, railbird. Phil, although you may be a soulless wasteland gamble to bone type of guy the players were seething at, my hats off to you and your pretty damn good play. P.S. I had the privalige of meeting Phil a while back. His antics may be child-like yes but he is quite nice and he is a very good poker player. But when you play for a long time at the table you always need some comic relief. I hope he never changes, it's just to funny to watch him

First of all, Phil may indeed have ADD, but that certainly doesn't mean he couldn't have gotten an engineering degree. Second of all, he is pretty cute. I wish he wouldn't always wear that hood.

I've known Phil "Unabomber" "Ultrajag" Laak for 9 years or so. All is never as it seems with him, which is of course perfect for poker. I could tell some hysterical stories. He is very hard to smack with a chair. The funny thing about him living with J.Tilly (met her at SJ couple months ago) is that she was in "Let It Ride", one of the best gambling movies ever.As for him being "lucky"......At that same tournament (Shooting Stars), I stepped into the snack bar and overheard some old nit telling a buddy "That Gus guy is just lucky, that's all." I mentioned this to another old backgammon->poker guy, X22, and he said "Lucky? Gus is UNlucky!"Funny

Phil told me Laak is an old Finnish name meaning "lake"..He told me this last night when he phoned me..he also told me that this year he doesnt feel so confident with all these people playing in the world series..I said "Phil,dont let them worry u,be very aggressive with them and they will fold"..he said "Wow thanks Cat I will do that"..Im sure we all wish Phil well :)
