But that is what makes poker so great! The math and odds are easy. Once you master that, it gets boring. But when you get to look and interact with your enemy, get him to talk, pick up on his confidence or fear, and react accordingly, THAT is what feels good. I have made some intense calls by hearing my opponent carry-on during a hand, watch his movements, etc. and that feels real good to be correct. And sometimes it felt just as much like a "win" to make that huge laydown. Yes, it can happen online too, but nowhere near as often as live. You just don't have as much information. A second benefiit is the general comradery of a social atmosphere. Not to mention, no worries of collusion, at least not like what happens online!
