WPT: Love the players hate the coverage
Does anyone else think the coverage of the WPT is far worse than ESPN's coverage of the WSOP? I hate the background and that lighted table too its just anoying to watch. WSOP has that gamblers casino feel to it.
Please note: This is my fifth post in a shameless attempt to win a free book To Admin - dont waste your time replying to the idiots on RGP that gave you a hard time for giving away a free book. Your doing something good (nice & smart business) and they are a waste of good oxygen. Does sucking up increase your odds for the book? Last edited by HPG ADMIN; 06-07-08 at 05:32 AM. |

Hey, i think there are 2 people who qualified so far so your chances are good. Next month I have a beginners Ken Warren book, then an Absolute shirt, then some Amazon gift cards. If I can get more Carson books to give away then I will.
RGP sucks. It's really just a bunch of people who know each other writing back and forth. People say it's the spam that ruins it but everyone can ignorecthe spam. It's the general lack of respect on those boards - I've seen it on other USENET groups. 2+2 is much better I think. Ironically, I enjoy the spam because a lot of time the spammers have info on new card rooms. I just read RGP for bonus info and poker news. |

I agree I read rgp for entertainment only. I don't read the the bad beat crap just the ones that look funny. Read the one on the levitra comercial during the WSOP. Funny!
How about the Lee Jones book for a give away. That is the one I was going to buy as soon as my wife gets over the money I spent on the supplies to build a poker table. Oh and the money on chips, Oh and the money invested in home games to build bankroll for Online. |

The best way to build a bankroll is to bonus whore. I first started out with $50 and ran it up to $4,500 after about 4 months and $3,500 was in bonuses. The bonus requirements have gone up lately but there are still 5-10 sites that are good to hit up right away. Do not stick to the big 4 sites like everyone says. The medium and small sites are good too.

Admin - bonus whoring
How much do I need to effectively bonus whore? Did you do many sites at once or earn the bonus at 1 and put it into site 2 and then double. The reason I was trying to build first is it didn't make sense to me to start playing until I could aford enough to earn at least the max bonus at one site.
I assume you are an affiliate with most of these sites when I have enough I will send you a direct email (not a post) to discuss what kind of sign up or rake back I can get in addition to their bonus. There is a good thread about bonus whoring on rgp if you are interested. Title College Dropout turned pro week 3 or something close to that. Also for your home poker law section of your site I found a good link http://www.gambling-law-us.com/State-Law-Summary/ some of it doesnt have recent passed laws but it is something (Indiana has passed anti-internet gambling laws now) but social poker is still ok best I can tell Thanks for all your help Dave |

<< How much do I need to effectively bonus whore? >>
You can start with as little as $100 << Did you do many sites at once or earn the bonus at 1 and put it into site 2 and then double.>> When I started out I just went to 1 site at a time. I started with $50 and started at Planet poker. I got a small bonus there but made a little playing and left there with a couple hundred. Based on that I was able to deposit at sites that were giving away a 20% bonus up to $50 so I would get the max bonus << The reason I was trying to build first is it didn't make sense to me to start playing until I could aford enough to earn at least the max bonus at one site. >> It is a good idea to wait until you have enough money to get the maax bonus. But I assume you have enough to hit up some of the smaller bonuses. One you need to do right away are: 1. Intercasino (Intertpoker). They are offering a $90 bonus on a $90 deposit in september and you only have to play 450 raked hands. This is a reload and not a first time deposit. So you can definitely get it. 2. Then I would go to Planet and get their $50 bonus on a $250 deposit. 3. Pokertropolis for a $50 bonus on a $250 deposit. That will be an ectra $190 in your bankroll for bonuses + winnings. |

Wow, how can I get free books and T-Shirts? Free stuff rules - I want in.
I like WPT more than WSOP by a little bit, but I agree that they overdo things. If I was playing on a table with a guy swinging lights at me like he was trying to give me an epileptic seizure I don't think I'd be able to focus on my game as well. The main reason I like them is because they give two hours of coverage while except for the main event ESPN gives one hour to show a whole final table. I like to see more of the meddling hands that really identify good players, but instead I see nothing but bombs going off, spewing chips and players everywhere. The people doing the best job for the viewer I think is Fox's boradcasts. American Poker Championships, Poker Superstars, and Championship Poker at the Plaza all have included extensive footage of the tournament, and in the case of the American Poker Championships every hand that was played at the final table. The reason I don't think Fox is dominating poker on TV is because of their crap production values and the mediocre announcing from Michael Konik and whoever the other dweeb is. Howard Lederer was pretty interesting but he has only announced some of their events. UPN's coverage is the worst, with nothing but all-in hands it seems, terrible production, and so-annoying-I-wanna-french-kiss-a-revolver announcing. That's where WPT really shines is in Mike Sexton's southern charm and how he can keep the game alive even when a player has to take several minutes to make a decision. Also, they need to bring back Late Night Poker damnit! |

Wsop
I've been watching Poker on TV for a long time. When I first saw the WSOP on ESPN in 2003...my jaw hit the ground. The production quality was absolutely mind blowing. Camera Work, lighting, commentary, sound...all first rate. Compared to the way poker used to look on TV....ESPN now looks like a movie.

I have no complaints and really like Vince and Mike. The set is fine, they've got a live audience, cameras all over the place.
I'm not sure what more you can be looking for? |

Vinny da Ninny
I think the coverage on WPT is nice in terms of what you do see...you just don't see enough of it. You should see more of the action away from the main tables. Also, you should see less of Shana Hyatt's wardrobe and more of her bare flesh.
But the one thing I don't like? I just want to slit Vince Van Patten's throat every time he opens his freakin' yapper. The guy knows almost nothing about the game (how, I'm not sure...but Jesus he sucks) and you can tell it almost pains Mike Sexton to have to sit there and listen to him too. It's like watching Chuck Norris trying to act alongside Robert DeNiro. Vince...shut your pie hole. Stand there and look pretty when the camera is on you, and then just for GOD SAKE shut up! Did I mention Shana Hyatt naked would be nice? |
