Ok it seems like most of the posters here are simply congradulating phil in the hopes that they might one day meet up with him and talk poker. Give it a rest, he's a rich guy that plays poker on his budget which is higher than most of us. I think he's a smart guy and a well rounded poker player, but I too think he's not as good as some of these suckups on this site give him credit to be. I would like to see him go heads up against the poker superstars invitational crew... Howard, phil ivey, doyle.. etc.. So he knocked out Chris moneymaker... *sigh* I have no respect for Chris at all... But either way, I do enjoy watching Phil comment on celeb poker, it is the only reason why I catch a glimpse of that show occasionally... I mean what point is there to watch celeb poker if you're a serious poker player?.. It is no different than watching a group of chimps play cards (famous chimps).

Phil admires Roy Cooke? AKA Roy CROOK, and his Planet Poker site that rips people off? That doesn't even seem right. I respect Phil, but not as much if he admires ROY CROOK.

*clarifies PokerVertigo's statement... She is a "kiss-up", not a "suck-up"... BIG difference! LOL! I also believe there are far better poker players out there than Phil, but I also believe that no one makes poker more enjoyable for me to watch than Phil. As for meeting him and talking poker, there are people on this posting board that HAVE met Phil and talked poker, so, why not me? If God has the power to part the Red Sea (which no one can prove or disprove, so I tend to believe He did), then God has the power to make it so that I'd get the chance to meet Phil. PokerVertigo is right about one thing, though. I'd LOVE to see Phil go heads up against other poker superstars. As a matter of fact, a "battle-of-the-Phils" is what I'd like to see! Phil against Phil Ivey, Phil Hellmuth, Phil Laak, Paul Phillips... I think there's another Phil out there, but I can't think of him right now.Just who is Roy Cooke, or Roy Crooke, as Wondering puts it?

After watching Phil on TV many times I had the extreme pleasure of meeting him at the Palms on April 9, 2005. I observed him the prior day during filming of the Bravo Celebrity Showdown and knew that I had to meet him. I'm so glad I had the courage to hold up my camera and ask for his picture as he was about to walk by. He set down the box he was carrying and came right over and posed with me. He is a genuinely nice man who is also very good looking. His shyness is endearing. His eyes are like windows to his soul, one look into them and I knew he was as beautiful on the inside as he is on the outside. He is NOT pretentious, arrogant, or conceited. Since meeting him I have been trying to learn as much about him as I possibly can. His many accomplishments, intelligence, commitment to charity work and desire for adventure all make him the very special man that he is. Thank you Mr. Mike Gordon (and your wife) for raising such a fine man. The world is truly a better place for having Phil in it. I would love to be the president of his fan club any day. Where do I sign up? Most sincerely, Carol Gina

Carol Gina, all you need to do is go to Phil's website, www.philgordonpoker.com. You'll find lots of info about him. It'll take several hours of viewing to see and read everything. Phil even has clips of some of his radio interviews, so you'll be able to listen to him too. P.S. Somewhere on his website you'll also find pictures of what Mike Gordon looks like. When I first found that picture, I could see which parent gave Phil his smile.

He's obviously not Doyle Brunson, or Amarillo Slim, or Johnny Chan. His name is Phil Gordon, and that would make him his own person. Why would Phil want to be anyone else other than what God's called him to be??A side note... For the last week, coming to this site, there is a temporary internet file that keeps getting downloaded to my computer that has a virus. Easily deleted, but I think it has something to do with the advertising. It's a trojan virus, so if you guys don't have updated virus protection, get it now. (Also, I'd love to know when Mike Gordon will post again. I've written him two replies to the e-mail he sent me but I've never heard back from him. I wonder how he's doing. )

Could never make a living playing cards. The pros love to see this guy walk into the room. But at least he can afford all the ass beatings he gets.

I just saw this dork on "Blind Date." He tried to act slick. He wore a god awful, Chan-like shirt. He tried to get her drunk. But he still struck out in the end. You'll always be 7 2 off-suit to me Phil...friggin geek.

Whatever you think about his play (or bad choice of shirts on Blind Date), there is no doubt that Phil is one of the best poker TEACHERS out there. I'm very excited to get a copy of his new DVD -- I've heard from a few people that it will be by far the best instructional video ever made -- for any subject. The website (www.expertinsight.com) is up and taking pre-orders it seems... I've already ordered mine.Student of the Game

he is good but some ppl overrate him. when he was saying that this one hand was good or something like that on Celebrity Poker, i think he was wrong. I somewhat doubt his skills but i still think he is pretty good.

this guy has NOT proven himself in anyway, what makes his poker special is the fact he buys his way into main events.watching him play reminds me of the beginners at the local poker club

I'm sure he's a nice guy but WHY WHY WHY is he in that Reservoir Dogs style promo with the pro celebs walking down the street?! He is NOT an upper echelon player and does not belong in their company! If I was a dot-com multimillionaire I could easily be a..."pro"...he's only on TV and in that position because of his $$$ and that's the ONLY reason. If he broke his back every day for a measly $15 and hour like me he'd be a NOBODY! Like I said nice guy.

I think he's in that tv promo because #1.) people recognize him more because of Celebrity Poker Showdown, #2.) Because he's one of the main programmers for FullTiltPoker.com, and #3.) because of his $$$. While it's true most of those players are better than he, he's got much more $$$ than they do. As we all know, most of the time, the one with the most $$$ usually gets the most control. Not all the time, but most of the time...

Is this about phil gordon as a person or a poker player? I think there is a difference. You can't attack someone personally then trash his poker skills. I smell haters. If he is loaded then good for him. He earned every penny. He must be good at something to make it this far. If you are hating on his poker skills...then just don't watch. Turn the channel. Haters....lol...get a life.

Phil is such a cutie...the best looking pro out there. I'm reading his book right now trying to get some pointers. He's made the book a pleasure to read; it's both informative and funny. Enjoy watching him on Celebrity Poker Showdown.
