Has anyone played No River Hold'em?

Three in the hole, a flop, and a turn...no river.

It's a new game recently approved by the Nevada gamming commission.

I've been pondering the strategy. The more I think about it the more boring it seems. I just wonder if I'm missing something...

I would think the game would be easier to master as far as calculating pot odds, etc.

With only one card after the flop, yeah, you basically don't have pot odds to draw to the last card. I guess that's easy.

As far as I can tell this game is all about preflop hand selection. Three of a kind, three suited with one of them big, or big pairs with one of them suited, would be the raising hands. Three connectors, and medium pairs with a big suited card would be calling hands. Pretty much averything else is junk.

Position is huge, because the preflop raising should get rid of most of the crap, and the flop is likely to miss whoever is left. Unless you flop the straight or flush, it's almost impossible to get pot odds to call to the turn...unless you play with some of the people I play with. *evil chuckle*

I guess if it was played with a limit betting structure, it could be fun. That would make it easier for more people to see a flop, and you could get odds to see a turn that way too.
